Throughout 2008, City of Westminster Archives delivered a wide variety of Walter Tull focused activities to schools, young people from
We identified schools and organisations to take part that had particular significance to Walter Tull's life, either through location or experience.
The project activities so far have been a massive success. Over 1000 people have participated in the various activities and we are currently touring the exhibition at venues across the UK (see Exhibition for dates).
Additionally, during Black History Month, City of Westminster Libraries ran "Young Poppies" literacy sessions for secondary schools in Westminster. The sessions focussed on the question "what it is to be a hero/heroine?" and used the Crossing the White Line website as a resource for the sessions. The sessions were facilitated by award winning writer Jenny Mitchell.
